I am extremely grateful to have a travel show, where I get to share with you, as my family and I enjoy great adventures while staying in 5 star accommodations, thank you, thank you, thank you.
My husband is my cameraman and he stated that during his childhood, his parents took very few pictures, so he cannot look back and remember all the adventures he had.
So he takes a lot of pictures, as he is busy and happy chronicling our family's adventures through photos, videos and anything else he can think of.
This weekend was Labor Day and we spent three nights and four days in Winter Park to see what we could see.
The onsite activities were so much fun! Many families that we met there were from the Denver metro area, but even for a busy weekend, it really didn't feel crowded.
When interviewing Darcy Liberty, Communications manager at Winter Park Resort, she noted "Winter Park is the closest mountain resort near the city".
Winter Park Resort is actually owned by City of Denver, maybe attracting the Denver locals even more.
This is a must-do event for every parent with kids 5 & under, simply because of the great bargain that it is.
Whether it's a family vacation or a day trip, the reason I call it a bargain is that kids 5 and under play free! Those of us over 5 years old purchased the all-day Adventure pass, which we used to the max! First, we rode the chair lift up the mountain for a scenic view.
It was an exciting sweep up to the top, especially for our 1st time riders, aged 7, 4 and 3, but they handled it gracefully and didn't seem one bit nervous about flying high above the ground, being the same height as large pine trees.
In reality, this was probably the least exciting for the kids, but something we wanted them to experience.
There were mountain bikers galore, everywhere we looked.
Winter Park and the Fraser Valley is trademarked as the Mountain Bike Capital of the USA with over 600 miles of marked and unmarked terrain.
There is a variety of options for every skill level.
Also opened is a new Trestle Bike Park with over 75 features to practice your stunts.
Next we found another chair lift that took us to the top of their famous Alpine Slide.
This exhilarating event gives you a thrill as you speed down the mountainside giving you the feeling of being a bobsledder.
You have a sled and the rider controls the speed down the hill.
We were genuinely impressed with the stability of the sled on the track.
The day we were there featured face-painting for kids, also free.
There was a Human Maze and an outdoor climbing wall.
We played mini-golf where even my 3 year old had a blast.
Golfers may have been wincing at her stroke, but she somehow found a way to get the ball in the hole.
Her celebration dance was priceless with each victory stroke.
Good entertainment for me.
A big highlight was the bungee jump where the kids are propelling with the assistance of a trampoline.
After all these endeavors, many more trips down the Alpine Slide followed.
The activities close down at 5:30pm, just as the weather began cooling down as well.
This was simply a fabulous day together! Does this sound familiar...
remember thinking ...
I love traveling...
I would love a great vacation...
but I'm not sure where to go and how much it will cost.
