Those working in accounting, tax preparation, bookkeeping and payroll services were the second highest paid, earning an average wage of $107,270. Personal bankers working in the securities and commodity contracts industry earned the third highest wage followed by advisers working in the real estate sector, who earned an annual mean wage of $101,150. Personal bankers who worked with scientific and technical consulting services firms earned an average of $93,970 annually.
- New York, California, Texas, Florida and Illinois employed the highest number of financial advisers based on BLS estimates. New York and California advisers earned annual mean wages of $136,310 and $89,770, respectively. Financial advisers working in Texas earned an average wage of $78,320, followed by Florida advisers who earned $68,240. Illinois advisers received a mean wage of $80,470.
- Financial advisers working in New York earned the highest annual mean wage. Connecticut advisers received the second highest mean compensation of $119,770. Advisers in Massachusetts earned an annual mean wage of $118,400. Advisers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania earned mean wages of $99,560 and $98,800, respectively. Delaware and Utah advisers earned the two lowest annual mean wages. Delaware advisers earned $82,930, while Utah advisers earned $67,460, according to the BLS.
