- 1). Place the pieces of the cabinet face frame on a table. Separate the ends, rails and stiles.
- 2
The "L" Shape to Begin
Place one of the rails perpendicular to an end piece at one end of it, creating a "L" shape. Hold the pieces together with your thumb and two first fingers. Use only slight pressure. - 3). Place the miter nailer on the joint so that the width of the plunger splits the joint evenly. Squeeze the trigger like you would a rifle as a jerking motion could lead to serious injury.
- 4). Shoot two fasteners into the joint if the face frame material is 2 inches or wider. When using the miter nailer on short pieces of face frame, it may cause the wood to splinter a bit; just remove the splinters and continue.
- 5). Secure narrow strips of 1/4-inch plywood over the joints that do not rest on some part of the cabinet by applying glue to it and securing it with a brad nailer. This is most common in long base cabinets that have a lot of drawers.
