How to Adjust the Time for Sotalol

    • 1). Insist on taking solatol for the first three days under supervision by a doctor at a facility. Solatol may cause irregular heartbeats and your heart should therefore be monitored. You will be prescribed either Betapace or Betapace AF but not interchangeably.

    • 2). Note down the exact directions as given by your doctor depending on the type of solatol you received. Also try to remember the exact time you were given the last dosage of solatol, it helps to stick to this schedule.

    • 3). Find an alarm clock which you can use solely for solatol.

    • 4). Think of the last dosage of solatol you took and set the alarm clock accordingly. If your last dosage was at 6 p.m., set the alarm to 6. Betapace is taken twice a day, therefore you would take it at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Betapace AF is taken once or twice a day depending on how your doctor prescribed it.

    • 5). Set a time which fits your schedule. Solatol should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1-2 hours before breakfast and dinner. If you usually eat breakfast around 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., then stick to the 6 a.m./6 p.m. schedule. If you usually get up or eat at a different time, you can change the time slowly by taking solatol half an hour or an hour later each day until you reach the desired time.

    • 6). Turn on the alarm clock after you take each dosage of solatol to make sure that it will go off for the next dosage. Keep a glass of water by your bedside for easier taking of the drug in the morning time. Then, wait an hour or two before eating. Repeat the process in the evening.
