- 1). Notify the USPS of your address change by going to https://moversguide.usps.com and filling out the form there. Start by clicking the "Click here to begin" arrow. This will instruct the Post Office to forward your mail to the new address for six months. You'll need a credit or debit card to serve as validation of your identity.
- 2). Complete a change of address form at a post office to avoid the $1 verification fee associated with applying online.
- 3). Report a change of address due to military orders (an APO/FPO address) by filling out the same 3575 form as for domestic changes of address at your local post office. If you're abroad and can't submit it to a domestic post office, write a letter to both the old and new P.O. addresses explaining the situation.
