How Durable Are Beanbags?

We know beanbags can be jumped on, and used like trampolines by children and teenagers alike but how much wear and tear and punishment can they stand up to? We have had beanbags in our house for many years.
I bought my first one when I went off to college and it stood up to the rigors of student life remarkably for four years and I continued to use it for many more.
When I finally let go, I gave it to a friend and although it was showing its age at ten years, it was in very good condition.
We bought beanbags again, just after I married because they are such durable pieces of furniture.
I must emphasize that like any piece of furniture, beanbags do need to be cared for.
Most of the time it will just need to be wiped to remove any sticky spills and the beans shaken up to even out the wear.
One of the great things about beanbags that I like, is they are washable.
Most beanbags come with cotton or other machine washable covers.
It is easy to remove the cover or if your beanbag does not have an inner liner, carefully empty the fill into a sack to keep it all together until it is time to put it all together.
I would personally choose one that already has the liner in it, as it is much easier.
You do want to be careful that you follow the washing instructions to ensure your beanbag stays in good shape and good condition.
You may want to change the look and feel of your beanbag by switching out the cover.
If you are giving a beanbag as a gift, get one that has a monogram for that personal touch.
After a time your beanbag may begin to lose its shape and not be as comfortable as when you first bought it.
Then it is time to refill the beanbag with filler.
It is an easy task to fill up the bag.
Check to see what type of filler your beanbag has before reordering.
The majority of beanbags are filled with foam or beads.
The beads are either virgin beads, which are brand new polystyrene beads or recycled polystyrene, which is less expensive.
Beanbags come in many different sizes so it is important to know the size of your beanbag before ordering.
A beanbag that measures 35" x 35" x 40" will need a six cubic foot bag of refill.
If in doubt, go for the larger size to ensure you have enough and buying the larger size is more cost effective.
Take care of your beanbag by removing the bag and washing per instructions.
The occasional wipe with a soft soapy cloth will remove any sticky marks left by candy or soda spills.
Keep your beanbag properly filled, as this will help it to maintain its intended shape and comfort level and your beanbag furniture will last you many years.
