Requirements

• A hydroponic nutrient solution must contain adequate amounts of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous in order to support the plants. It must also have certain trace elements, including copper, iron, manganese, sulfur and chlorine.
  
  

Miracle-Gro

• Miracle-Gro plant food contains the elements necessary for plants to grow, including both the three main required elements as well as all of the lesser requirements. Because it is formulated to be a complete plant food on its own, mixing it with an existing hydroponic nutrient solution may create an imbalance and cause problems for the growing plants.
  
  

Considerations

• Miracle-Gro can be used to create a hydroponic solution from scratch. Because this fertilizer is water soluble, it works well in many types of hydroponics systems. Mix 2 tsp. of Miracle-Gro for each gallon of water. Add 1 tsp. Epsom salts per gallon to complete the solution. Mix well and it is ready to use.
