- 1). Click the "Start" menu and type "Backup Exec" in the search bar. Click the folder that appears by the name. This will open the contents of the folder in a new Windows Explorer window. The path of this folder is recorded in the address bar at the top pane of the window. Write it down on a piece of paper. Close the window.
- 2). Open Windows Explorer from "Computer" in your Start menu. Browse to the path you just wrote down.
- 3). Right-click the "Backup Exec" folder and select "Properties."
- 4). Click the "General" tab.
- 5). Click "Advanced."
- 6). Click to clear the check next to "Compress contents to save disk space."
- 7). Click "OK" to end task.
