Let me teach you how easy it is.
Most of the following list of supplies can be purchased at your local Health Food Center or Garden Centers.
Several Internet vendors also offer complete growing kits that can be mailed to your home town.
Supplies: 1.
Growing Trays - Purchase durable black growing trays with holes that can be reused over and over again.
Drain holes and easy portable size make these trays perfect for growing wheat grass or barley grass even in your own kitchen.
Each tray will yield 14 to 18 ounces of juice.
2.
Organic Growing Mix - Purchase enough soil to grow 5-6 trays.
The mix is rich in minerals.
This compost soil provides a clean growing medium for beautiful green grass.
Compost your used soil flat and use it over and over.
If Organic Growing Mix is not available, you can purchase bags of Top Soil and mix it Compost and achieve very good results, also.
3.
Organic Wheat Grass or Barley Grass seeds - Purchase seeds of your choice from the supplier in your area or from the Internet.
4.
Azomite - Azomite has 67 major and trace elements, so its name means "A to Z of Minerals Including Trace Elements.
" Typical analysis shows every element that's beneficial to plants and animals, and other elements (micro-nutrients) scientists believe essential.
Azomite is not available in my area, instead, I use Liquid Organic Vegetable or seaweed based fertilizer to add extra nutrients and enhance growth.
I get very good results time and time again.
5.
Spray bottle - Purchase a standard sized plastic spray bottle to apply water and fertilizer to your growing cereal grasses.
6.
Fan - Purchase or use any rotating stand fan that you might already have.
7.
Glass jars - Purchase 1 or 2, 1 gallon jars, with wide mouths, if available 8.
Paper Towels - Purchase standard size paper towel Growing Instructions: 1.
Measure 2 cups of seeds into glass jar and fill halfway with water.
2.
Soak seeds for 12 hours, drain water, rinse seeds, strain through metal mesh strainer and refill jar with water.
Repeat rinsing/straining process every 6 hours for 1.
5 days until the seeds start to sprout.
3.
Pour Organic soil mix or Top soil/Compost mix into growing trays to the height of 1.
5 inches.
4.
Put some rinsed/strained seeds on top of your Organic soil mix or top soil/Compost mix and spread out evenly.
To help prevent mold from forming in the trays, be careful not to overcrowd your growing tray with seeds.
5.
Place two layers of paper towels over your growing trays.
I use three layers if the weather is warm and dry.
The layered Paper towels help keep your seeds moist.
6.
Pour two glasses of water on the paper towels.
It is very important that cereal grass seeds stay moist (but not saturated).
Once or twice per day should be enough.
7.
I use a stand fan to circulate air over the growing trays.
Using a fan tends to dry the paper towels quicker.
Check the trays every few hours and water your trays accordingly.
8.
When the seeds start sprouting and they are about 1/2 inch tall, they will start pushing up on the paper towel.
At that point which takes about 2-3 days, remove the paper towel.
Usually, I can reuse the paper towels 2-3 times.
I moisten the seeds once a day at this stage.
9.
Growing the grass to 6-7 inches takes 6-9 days.
They grow slower in colder weather (8-10 days) and faster in warm weather (5-7 days).
The last two years that I have grown wheat grass and barley grass for juicing, my family and I have experienced more vitality, less sickness from colds and flu, and a general feeling of wellness.
