- 1). Create a new folder on your desktop to hold your photos. Name it something pertinent.
- 2). Obtain a USB card reader for the type of card that your camera uses.
- 3). Plug the reader into a USB port on the computer.
- 4). Remove the card from your camera and insert it into the card reader. The card will show up as a new drive on your computer.
- 5). Double-click on the new drive and click through the folders that show up until you can see your photos. Back up one folder. Right-click on that folder and copy it to the folder on your desktop. Your photos are now on your desktop.
- 1). Open your photo in your image editing program and go to "Image" then "Image Size"
- 2). Change the resolution of the images to 72 or 96 dpi if they will be viewed on screen only. Keep the size no larger than 5x7 inches. This will speed up the transfer of your images considerably.
- 3). Change the resolution to 240 dpi if the images are to be printed but keep the size no larger than 5x7 inches. This should give an image of approximately 7 MB.
- 4). Email the photos as an attachment.
