One of the best parts about my media room is the home theater seating. I went with the private screening room feel when designing the space, but there are other options available that most people never even consider.
At first I almost picked the more traditional movie house chairs as my home theater seating. You know the ones with the cup holder in the arm and the bottom that folds up when someone is not seating in it? I always loved those types of seats as a child. I would get scolded by my mom because I would get up and flip them up and down if the movie was boring. Which I must add is not the reason I chose the home theater seating I got.
The ones I got are sectionals and have special compartments to store things, and yes they also have cup holders just like traditional movie house seats. The best part about the home theater seating I got is that they can be rearranged or even left as separate pieces. They also recline without leaning back too far in case I decide to put them in rows.
Once I picked out my home theater seating I decided that I wanted to create the ultimate private screening room. So I got floor to ceiling drapes for the whole room and I put them around special lighted frames that hold my movie posters. I also have converted the door going into my media room into a ticket booth; I even have tickets!
Just keep in mind that there are all kinds of options available when designing your media room and you do not have to pick one style or another when shopping for home theater seating. Just buy the things that you would like and before you know it the whole room will come together to create your own unique atmosphere.
