Having been brought up in the UK, I have grown used to looking to the continent when it comes to my holidays.
Whether it be for better weather, or simply for a change of scene, there are always plenty of attractions to visiting other European countries.
Choosing where to go can often prove difficult.
If you've travelled around Europe then you'll realise that each of the countries offer a range of diverse experiences.
Spending time in Iceland, for example, is considerably different to relaxing by the Mediterranean in Greece.
The holidays that we choose will always depend upon our own preferences, situations and budgets.
When I come to choose a destination, I often look for locations that offer a little bit more than some options.
I don't often spend an entire holiday relaxing by the swimming pool, for example.
I prefer to visit destinations where there are a range of possibilities - it's great to be able to completely relax for a couple of days but then be able to enjoy the shopping, the culture and the nightlife of the location.
So where are my favourite holiday locations in Europe? There are a number of cities that are perfect for extended weekend breaks.
Prague is surely one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - a wonderful place to explore, with its glorious architecture and culture.
Barcelona offers similar opportunities, combining a beautiful city with a fine coastal location.
For me, Barcelona offers a little bit more than Madrid, although I know others would disagree.
If I look for a beach holiday then I tend to opt for places where there is plenty going on.
Cyprus has become a firm favourite for this very reason.
I find that I can get a good deal on a quality hotel, allowing me to relax in real comfort.
The island does a good job of welcoming tourists, providing excellent facilities.
It's also nice to be able to explore the country and I like to head inland for occasional trips - I always find that a good way of discovering more of the real Cyprus.
There are regular flights from the UK, with many arriving at Larnaca International Airport, although there are other Cyprus airport options.
If you're looking for a location with a little bit more to see and do then Cyprus could be the right choice for you and your family.
