- 1). Fill the plastic bottle with warm, soapy water and give it a few shakes to clean the inside. Pour out the soapy water and rinse the inside of the bottle with fresh water.
- 2). Cut out a 1- to 2-inch square opening in the bottom of the bottle, using a sharp utility or craft knife.
- 3). Hammer a nail or drill through the center of the bottle's cap to create a small hole. Screw the cap onto the bottle.
- 4). Place a water dish or deep pan along one edge of the rabbit pen. Use a dish or pan with a depth that can submerge the cap and neck of the plastic bottle.
- 5). Cut two pieces of wire, one with a length double the diameter of the large part of the plastic bottle and the other with a length double the diameter of the neck of the plastic bottle. Secure the bottle to the pen wall with the pieces of wire, using the longer wire for the body of the bottle and the shorter wire for the neck.
- 6). Position the bottle inside the pen, upside down and against the wire pen wall, with the cap and neck inside the dish or pan.
- 7). Fill the bottle with water through the hole cut in the bottom. The water will trickle through the hole in the cap and into the dish or pan.
