- 1). Sketch out your ideas for the model you want to create on paper before you start working in Cinema 4D. These sketches do not have to be perfect, since they are just for your reference.
- 2). Open Cinema 4D. Go to the toolbar at the top and click on the "Cube" icon. A cube will appear in the scene. On the lower right you will see the "Object Properties" panel where you can adjust things like the size and segmentation (number of divisions) in the cube.
- 3). Click on the "Make Editable" icon at the top of the toolbar on the left. Click on the "Polygon" selection tool. Click on one of the faces.
- 4). Right-click on the face and choose either "Bevel" (Bevel produces an angled extrusion) or "Extrude" (Extrude produces a straight extrusion) to extend the facing outward. Or you can select the "Knife" tool and use it to make polygons by dividing the face, and then use the "Extrude" or "Bevel" tools.
- 5). Repeat Step 4 with both the original faces of the cube and any new polygons you create to make the shape of the model you want based on your sketches. Use the "Move" and "Rotate" tools to move polygons, edges or points where you want them to refine the shape.
