- The Tennessee Nurses Foundation provides annual scholarship funding to registered nurses in-state who dream of continuing their nursing education. To qualify for an award, applicants must be state residents, be a current member of the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) and be enrolled in an accredited nursing program at the undergraduate, graduate or doctoral level. Selection priority is given to those students who demonstrate financial need, leadership potential and active participation in the TNA. As of 2011, the annual award amount was $1,000. The number of awards granted each year varies based on program funding.
- State residents enrolled in the nursing program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga may take advantage of multiple scholarship awards. As of 2011, scholarship award amounts ranged from $300 to $1,000. First-, second- and third-semester students may apply for the $1,000 Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Auxiliary Scholarship. Both undergraduates and graduate students may apply for the $1,000 Robert H. Ginn Scholarship. The Nursing Alumni Scholarship provides $300 to an outstanding freshman nursing major. Outstanding male nursing students may apply for the $1,000 Raymond Howard Undergraduate Scholarship Award. Individual selection criteria vary for each award.
- West Tennessee Healthcare, a public health care system serving 19 counties in western Tennessee, offers annual scholarship awards for outstanding nursing students. To apply, students must be state residents enrolled in their second year of a B.S.N. (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program at Union University or another approved school. Students enrolled in the A.S.N. (Associate of Science in Nursing) program at Jackson State Community College or another approved school may also apply. Employees of West Tennessee Healthcare are eligible for this scholarship. As of 2011, the program provides selected students with a maximum of $10,000 in scholarship funding over a two-year period of study. In exchange, recipients must agree to work full-time for West Tennessee Healthcare for a period of time determined by the total amount of their award.
- The Dorsey and Betty King Scholarship is offered to Tennessee nursing students through the East Tennessee Foundation. The program is open to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Claiborne or Campbell counties. Applicants must be accepted into an accredited nursing program in-state and plan to enroll on a full-time basis. Selection criteria are based on academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, work history, volunteer participation and financial need. As of 2011, one $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually.
