- 1). Determine the type of original equipment installed in the Mitsubishi Eclipse by looking at the trim around the stereo. A single piece of trim that surrounds a head unit and equalizer requires the purchase of the Mitsubishi console trim with a built in pocket. Units that have trim with two holes do not require an installation kit.
- 2). Pry the trim from the dash by applying firm pressure to the upper right corner until the clips have released. Locate and remove the four screws, two on each side of the stereo.
- 3). Pull the head unit out of the dash and disconnect the wires from the back. Slide the Mitsubishi cage with a bottom pocket into the dash if the Eclipse came with a single hole trim piece.
- 4). Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness. Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new radio and then into the dash.
- 5). Turn the radio on and test the speakers and stereo controls to verify they work correctly. Replace the four screws that secure the mounting assembly in place and snap the trim ring into the clips.
