    Bathroom Ideas

    • Bathroom lamp

If you're aiming for an elegant look in your bathroom, consider a chandelier. They make a bold statement and can illuminate any room. If you're looking for an old chandelier, try an antique store or flea market. Home improvement stores also carry chandeliers with an antique look. Wrought-iron, crystal and glass chandeliers are the most popular varieties.

If you want a cozy feel, try using lamps in your bathroom. Lamps are very affordable and can add a lot of light. You can find lamps that use three-way bulbs, which allows you to adjust the light depending upon what's needed. You can add lamps next to a vanity or on a shelf. They come in so many designs that you can mix and match the shades to get exactly the look you're after. If you have a built-in cabinet in your bathroom, try installing a small accent light. Don't discount floor lamps that are typically used in the living room.

Sconces create ambient light that is directed upward. They are mounted on the wall and look great around mirrors where you might need extra light. Designs range from modern to antique and will add an artistic look to your bathroom.

    Considerations

    • Bathroom chandelier

If your bathroom is small, consider using recessed lighting. These lights are built into the ceiling and won't take up space. Installing a dimmer will allow you to increase the brightness as needed.

When considering a chandelier, make sure the ceiling is high enough for one and that it is securely fastened to the ceiling. If you happen to find an old chandelier, you can easily update it with a couple of coats of spray paint.

After you install your lights, make sure you don't have any exposed wiring and that everything is secured. If you don't feel comfortable installing your light, hire a professional electrician.
