- 1). Dip the paintbrush into the jar of water.
- 2). Place the paintbrush into the acrylic paint on the palette and swish the brush around, allowing the water to thoroughly mix with the paint.
- 3). Apply the water-paint mixture onto the canvas. You should see some of the canvas through the paint. If you don't, you haven't mixed in enough water.
- 4). Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until the paint is the desired degree of transparency.
- 5). Prevent the paint from dripping down the canvas by dabbing the paintbrush onto a rag before applying it to the canvas.
