How to Renew a Green Card With Immigration & Naturalization

    • 1). Log on to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website (see Resources). Search for form I-90 and decide whether you will apply electronically or through the mail. Print out form I-90 if you desire to apply through the mail.

    • 2). Fill out every space on the form. If the answer is none for a question write "None" in the space provided. Provide information such as date of entry, your alien class of entry and your alien registration number.

    • 3). Gather any required documents. These may include your approval for permanent residency, original entry visa and proof of port of entry. Include the documents with your application.

    • 4). Put a U.S. Postal money order in the application totaling $450 payable to the Department of Homeland Security (see as of March 2011). This will cover a filing fee and biometrics fee. File the application electronically or mail a printed application to the listed lock-box facility.

    • 5). Wait for a response from USCIS. You may be required to take a biometrics exam as requested by USCIS. Upon completion you will receive your renewed green card in the mail.
