Visa Requirements for Australian Passport Holders

    Visa Not Required

    • Australian passport holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering certain countries for fixed periods of time. Examples of this include European Union countries, such as the United Kingdom, France and Germany where Australian passport holders can enter for up to 90 days. Another example is Thailand where Australians do not need a visa for up to 30 days stay. These are for single entry visits only.

    Visas on Arrival

    • In some countries such as Indonesia, Australian passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival which allows them to stay in the country for a short period. This is normally up to 30 days.

    Tourist Visa

    • Australian citizens must apply for a visa to visit certain countries. For multiple-entry visits or extended stays of more tha 30 to 90 days, Australian passport holders must apply for a visa to enter that country. This applies to all countries except for New Zealand. Australian passport holders must apply for the visa outside the country that she intends to visit. Tourist visas are issued with time limits and prohibit employment.

    Visas for Working

    • Australian citizens must apply for business visas when intending to conduct business activities within the borders of a different country. Australian citizens are required to provide evidence of their intended activity. For young people aged 18 to 30, Australia has a number of working holiday agreements with other countries, which allow Australians to work or study for a limited period in a country. These countries include Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Hong Kong SAR, Norway, Cyprus, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Taiwan, Estonia, Japan, United Kingdom, Finland, South Korea, France, Malta, Chile, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey and the United States of America. Requirements for each agreement should be check individually.
