- 1). Download SmitFraudFix (see Resources), then restart your computer. When your computer is starting up, press "F8" until the Safe Mode options appear. Choose to enter Windows in Safe Mode.
- 2). Double-click SmitFraudFix. Click "Clean (Safe Mode recommended)" and then press "Enter."
- 3). Press "Y" when prompted to clean the registry.
- 4). Press "Y" to confirm the "Replace infected file?" if it appears.
- 5). Restart your computer normally to finish cleaning. Restart your computer again, this time going back into Safe Mode.
- 6). Click the "Start" menu, type "C:\Windows\Temp" and press "Enter." Hold "Ctrl" and press "A" to select all files, then hold "Shift" and press "Delete" to permanently delete these files.
- 7). Click the "Start" menu, type "C:\Documents and Settings" and press "Enter." Double-click your username, then double-click "Local Settings" and "Temp." Hold "Ctrl" and press "A" to select all files. Hold "Shift" and press "Delete" to permanently delete all these files.
- 8). Restart your computer normally, and run Windows Update to download all updates.
