Hanalei Colony Resort is an intimate beachfront condominium resort located on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii. The five-acre low-rise property is made up of 48 deluxe two-bedroom condominium units, all with fully equipped kitchens and private lanais.

Hanalei Colony is located directly on the beach near Haena, Kauai's northernmost town, near the end of the road. It is 35 miles north of Lihue airport (approximately 1 hour drive, depending on traffic conditions).

Facilities, Services And Amenities:

The resort is made up of 13 two-story buildings, each with four condominium units. Forty-eight of the units are available for vacation rental. All units are attractively furnished, with two bedrooms, one-and-a-half or two bathrooms, living room and dining area, private lanai, and fully equipped kitchen. The property includes a swimming pool, whirlpool spa, barbecue/picnic areas, and coin-operated guest laundromat.

Guests staying a minimum of two nights receive an in-room arrival gift of fresh flowers, locally-made cookies, a recyclable shopping bag, and a deck of playing cards. A complimentary continental breakfast and an afternoon mai tai party are offered once a week for guests.

Free wireless internet access (WiFi) is available to guests. Personal concierge service is offered to assist guests in arranging dining, activities, or special requests. Other services: maid service twice a week (daily service available at a modest cost); free parking; complimentary beach mats and beach towels; ice and soda machines; lending library at Front Office offering books, toys, puzzles and games; babysitting services (additional charge).

Hanalei Day Spa offers a variety of therapeutic massages, spa services, rejuvenation programs, and customized yoga and Ayurvedic retreats.

Weddings And Small Groups:

Hanalei Colony is a popular location for weddings. The resort offers a variety of onsite wedding packages and the services of a full-time wedding coordinator. In addition, Hanalei Day Spa offers bridal packages, providing a day of pampering for the bridal party.

Hanalei Colony offers a beautiful beachfront dining area in the Mediterranean Gourmet Restaurant that can accommodate small groups (up to approximately 50 people), wedding receptions, and private dinners. The richly-appointed interior features Mediterranean tile floors, open-beam vaulted ceilings, multiple skylights and wall-to-wall windows featuring breathtaking ocean views. In addition, a large manicured lawn fronts the facility and beach for indoor/outdoor options.

The pool area at Hanalei Colony is another popular site for informal private dinners, receptions, barbecues or luaus for resort guests.

Activities:

The north shore of Kauai is world-famous for its lush beauty, and the area is rich in natural and historic attractions. Hiking trails are abundant, and the area boasts a number of ancient caves and heiau (places of worship) that have spawned many tales of Hawaiian legends and lore. In addition to the natural and cultural attractions, there are many other activities available within a short drive: helicopter or boat tours, horseback riding, championship golf, tennis, and a wide range of water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, and kayaking. Personal concierge service is available to assist with activity arrangements.

Shopping And Dining:

The oceanfront, award-winning Mediterranean Gourmet restaurant at the property is open daily (except Sunday) from lunch through dinner, and the cozy Napali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop offers morning coffee, espresso and pastries as well as mid-day snacks to go. A small grocery store is located in the town of Hanalei, ten minutes away. Another supermarket (recommended) is available in Princeville, a few more minutes down the road. A small country store is located near Hanalei Colony for last-minute purchases.

Both Princeville and Hanalei offer a variety of charming shops, featuring clothing, gifts, art, hand-crafted items, and necessities. In addition, the Princeville and Hanalei areas offer many dining choices, from casual “island-style” cuisine to fine dining establishments.

Transportation:

Transportation options are somewhat limited on Kauai. Taxis are not readily available and their cost is very high due to the resort's remote location. A rental car is highly recommended and almost essential for getting around on Kauai.
