- 1). Pour 1 tbsp. of oil into the pressure cooker and set the burner to medium heat. Brown the pork spareribs on both sides for three minutes. Remove from the stove and drain the fat from the spareribs. Place the spareribs aside.
- 2). Return the pressure cooker to the stove and heat 1 tbsp. oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute for two minutes. Stir in the water and barbecue sauce and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for five minutes on low heat.
- 3). Put the spareribs into the pressure cooker and replace the pressure cooker lid. Set the pressure cooker to high pressure and cook for 18 minutes. Remove the pressure cooker from the stove and place in the sink at an angle. Run a small amount of cold water over the lid of the pressure cooker until you hear a faint popping sound indicating the pressure has been released. This is known as the cold water release method.
- 4). Remove the pork spareribs from the pressure cooker and place them on an oiled broiling rack. Reserve the sauce inside the pressure cooker for later use. Set the oven to broil and season the spareribs with salt and pepper. Place the broiling rack 6 inches from the heat source and broil for five minutes on one side.
- 5). Turn the spareribs over and brush with the sauce in the pressure cooker. Put the spareribs back into the oven and broil for an additional two to three minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.
