- 1). Ensure that you have a phone that is Direct Connect compatible. Your Nextel authorized dealer will advise you of whether or not the phone can be utilized for Direct Connect calling.
- 2). Subscribe to Direct Connect as an additional feature to your calling plan. You will have to pay an additional monthly fee to enable the Direct Connect feature.
- 3). Scroll through the contacts of your address book to select the name of the individual you want to "Direct Connect." You can also scroll through your call history to locate a number to connect to. The person you are calling will have to be a Direct Connect customer as well. If they are not a Direct Connect customer, you will not be able to reach them using the service.
- 4). Press the "OK" button on your phone to activate the call to the individual.
- 5). Press and hold the Direct Connect button, on the side of your phone, to begin speaking with the individual. Release the Direct Connect button when you are finished speaking. By releasing the button you will be able to hear the response from the individual you have connected to.
- 6). End the call by pressing the phone's red "End Call" button.
- 7). Alert a Direct Connect customer that you are trying to reach him by selecting his name from your contact list. Press the "Alert" button on your phone to send the alert.
