Blue Carpet Interior Design Ideas

    Embrace the Blue

    • Blue is a calming, relaxing color. In feng shui, blue heals and relaxes and represents peace and trust. It is also associated with adventure and exploration. Use a soft blue on the walls, and create an accent wall with either wallpaper or faux paint effects such as faux clouds. Add splashes of brighter and bolder blues with accessories such as cushions. Combine different textures, finishes, shades and patterns to create visual interest. Warm wood tones in the form of furniture and wall paneling prevent the blue from becoming too cold; a splash of bright red or warm orange and plenty of heavy fabric will also help.

    Calm and Neutral

    • Use a neutral color with warm undertones on the walls, such as cream or soft yellow. Paint woodwork white for a fresh, clean look, and add natural fiber rugs in neutral colors to the blue carpet. This way, the carpet is the main color in the room, but not noticeably so. Keep accessories neutral to steer away from adding other blue accents in the room, or introduce small splashes of blue to tie the decor and the carpet together.

    Bright and Bold

    • Combine the blue carpet with teal and green to create an aquatic feel in the room. Don't go overboard with aquatic-themed accessories unless you want to go for an all-out themed room. Adding brown and green to a room with a blue carpet creates an earthy, nature-inspired feel, especially if you use floral, leaf or vine patterns. Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere with reds, browns and oranges to create a fall-inspired decor.

    Decor Styles

    • Country, cottage and English country are all decor styles that work well with a blue carpet. Think pretty and quaint, with crisp white lace, pretty floral patterns and white painted wood furniture. Add one or two dark wood pieces for a slightly rustic feel. Accessorize with white and blue glazed pottery and heaps of patterned cushions. Garden style is a decor style that is inspired by a country garden. Combine blues, greens and browns with splashes of rose red, sunflower yellow and lavender. Accessorize with fresh cut flowers, framed botanicals and potted plants.
