But if you do certain things consistently, your pool will be beautiful all year round, especially if you live in local Phoenix. Pool Repair companies can also keep your pool looking beautiful if you're too short on time.
If you do have the time, however, here's what you need to do on a regular basis to keep your pool as pristine as the pool man.
Pool maintenance can take a lot of time and resources to get the job done right. If you're in hotter climates, such as Arizona, pool cleaning service is a convenient and cost-effective way to keep your pool looking beautiful and in useable fashion year-round.Â
If you do have the time, however, here's what you need to do on a regular basis to keep your pool as pristine as the pool man.
- Empty the filter. Clean out the filter basket on the side of the pool and use the skimmer to clean out any debris. It takes just a minute to do and can save the filter and vacuums a lot of extra work. If you have low-hanging trees or bushes around your pool that shed constantly, consider trimming them back frequently or even replacing them with foliage that isn't as messy.
- Set up your vacuum. Connect the vacuum to the hose and suspend the vacuum head over the water. Fill the hose end with a jet nozzle until water starts to come out of the vacuum. After filling, submerge the vacuum head with your hand over the hose until you connect it to the skimmer.
- Balance the chemicals. Adjust your pool's chemistry weekly. Start with the pH. Â Treat your pool with muriatic acid if the pH is above 7.6 and a soda ash product if it's under 7.4. Next, you'll check the chlorine level. A chlorine level below 1 part per million (ppm) or alkalinity less than 90 ppm requires you to shock the pool. To do so, use a bucket of water to dissolve chlorine with alkalinity increaser and toss the mixture in the pool.
- Vacuum the pool. An average-sized pool requires about 30 minutes of vacuuming every week. However, if you're in a location where dust storms are frequent, you'll need to vacuum the pool a couple times per week. It's very similar to mowing the lawn, as you simply move the vacuum slowly across the water in parallel lines. Finish up by brushing any algae off the sides of the pool.
- Backwash the filter. Turn the filter valve to backwash to redirect the water flow. Most pools use a sand, diatomaceous earth (DE) or cartridge filter.
- Clean the pump filter. The pump has a hair/lint catcher inside of it which needs to be cleaned frequently. To do this, shut the system off and close the skimmer valve in front of the pump. Next, unscrew the trap's cover, remove the basket and empty it into the garbage.
