- 1). Make sure your dog has plenty of safe options to chew on. Because Yorkies are naturally inquisitive, they are even more likely than other dogs to find new and extremely harmful things to gnaw on when they are teething. Make sure that your puppy has a lot of acceptable options available to him at all times and praise him heartily when he chews on his things rather than yours.
- 2). Start watching your dog's bite at about 5 months of age. Around five months, Yorkie puppies start losing baby teeth and getting their permanent teeth. During this period of time, their constant gnawing in conjunction with the fact that many pups do not lose all their baby teeth on their own can result in serious bite problems if the issues are not corrected immediately.
- 3). Monitor your puppy with the help of a veterinarian. A vet will be able to look at the dog's bite and decide if she needs some teeth pulled in order to keep the bite in proper alignment.

It is hard to beat a cold chunk of chicken broth on a hot day when your teeth hurt.
Give him frozen chicken broth cubes to help soothe his mouth. Freeze low-salt chicken broth in ice cube trays for your puppy to chew on. The cold will help his gums, and the chicken broth will keep him focused on this totally acceptable chew toy. Also, the ice will give way under his teeth and be less likely to alter his bite. - 5). Freeze rubber teething rings for your puppy. While many puppies are not particularly interested in plain rubber toys, the coldness will soothe your Yorkie puppy's sore gums and may keep her from crying during teething. Also, rubber toys are less likely to cause damage, although you still should monitor your dog's mouth with the help of a veterinarian.
