Dukan Diet: Four Phases and a Trick to Keep Weight Off

If you are trying to lose weight or improve your health, read this article. Have you heard of the Dukan Diet? This diet is has been a best-kept French secret for the last decade and is finally making its way to the UK and United States.

After 30 years of research and in practice, Dr. Dukan developed this incredibly successful weight loss method so you can lose weight fast and more importantly – keep that weight off.

The diet requires discipline but it provides the guidelines and specifics of what foods you can eat and which to avoid making it easy to follow. The Dukan Diet is broken up into four sections or phases. The phases are called:
  • Attack
  • Cruise
  • Consolidation
  • Stabilization

Each is important to the success of the diet. Millions of people have lost weight on the Dukan Diet and are keeping it off with Dukan's maintenance trick, which I'll describe below --keep reading.

The first phase of the Dukan Diet is the most intense and restrictive – you eat all lean protein. It isn't just an avoidance of carbs – Dukan also requires that you eat lean meats, take skin off chicken, avoid cheese, butter and fats.

In the second phase, you alternate the protein days with vegetable days where you eat anything from Dukan's list of approved vegetables – most green, leafy, super healthy and nutrient packed veggies.

The third section allows you to add some food items back in and in the fourth, you are able to eat virtually everything.

Now, the thing that makes this diet particularly unique is that in the final phase, you pick one day each week where you eat all lean protein – sticking to that list that you will be familiar with from an earlier phase of the diet. You maintain this for life or as long as you want to maintain your weight loss.
