- 1). Assemble packing supplies, including tape, boxes and cushioning material like packing peanuts, old newspapers and bubble wrap.
- 2). Cushion the bottoms of boxes with packing peanuts, newspaper or bubble wrap.
- 3). Place layers of bubble wrap or newsprint between stacked plates and bowls. Wrap glasses and mugs in packing material.
- 4). Save packing space by stacking pots, pans and mixing bowls together before placing into cartons.
- 5). Place heavy items in bottoms of cartons, add lighter items on top, then fill empty spaces with wadded newsprint.
- 6). Wrap small kitchen appliances, like coffee makers and blenders, in newsprint and place in boxes.
- 7). Seal open food boxes with tape. Avoid packing boxed foods if your goods will be placed in storage.
- 8). Seal boxes with tape and label the contents with a magic marker.
