  Even if you didn't participate in any extracurricular activities at high school or college, there is still one aspect of school life that you can talk about on a resume--your class projects. Although the types of project you undertook or were best at may not be relevant to the job you're applying for, the transferable skills you learnt whilst doing them will be. For instance, successfully completing a semester-long internship working alongside a physician or attorney, or finishing an independent study course in which you research an area of personal interest, would definitely interest potential employers.
  
  

Sports

  Although playing a team sport at school will obviously have taught you teamwork, there are other benefits to including sporting activities on your resume. Participation in team sports also promotes communication skills and the ability to assess the needs of others. If you were captain of your team, you will have picked leadership and organizational abilities. Even if you participated in an individual sport, your experiences will still be of value to future employers. If you were good at a racket sport such as tennis or squash, you most likely have great levels of concentration.
  
  If you received an All-District honor because you excelled both academically and athletically at school, include this on your resume as it shows you are able to succeed in more than one field or task at a time.
  
  

Creative Projects

  If you enjoyed art, drama or creative writing at school, the experience will be of value to you in your career. A resume that features anything creative as your hobby demonstrates that you are able to think creatively. When it comes to troubleshooting or problem solving in a work situation, employers are very glad of workers who can get creative with their solutions. Perhaps you directed your school play, your lead fell ill minutes before curtains up and you had to prepare the understudy at short notice. This demonstrates an aptitude for both leadership and crisis management.
  
  

Social Activities

  Any school activity that requires the use of social skills, such as being social secretary, participating in debates, or running a book club, gives you qualities that many recruiters will be impressed by. These include communication skills, the ability to co-operate and, potentially, leadership or management skills. For instance, if, as social secretary, you organized your school prom, this shows you to be a competent event planner, as well as a leader and communicator. Running a book club involves using scheduling skills to decide which books will be read when. You also exercise a certain amount of authority by making sure everyone actually reads and discusses the books, instead of attending the meetings just to hang out.
