- 1). Attempt to fix the tuning error using the fine-tuning knobs on the bridge. These knobs are little screws that apply pressure to the strings, thus changing their pitch. If you can fix your guitar's tuning using these knobs, you are done. Be careful not to completely remove the screws when adjusting tuning this way.
- 2). Unscrew the locking pieces on your guitar's nut -- if it has a locking nut -- with an Allen wrench. Then loosen the fine-tuning screws at the bridge. Once these pieces are loose, you can tune your guitar as you normally would.
- 3). Use an electric tuner to accurately tune your guitar using the tuning pegs.
- 4). Screw the locking nuts back into place. This will knock the strings slightly out of tune.
- 5). Tune each guitar string using the fine-tuning knobs on the bridge. Continue using your electric tuner to get the best results. Once you are finished, check to make sure all of the strings are still in tune. You may need to re-tune the strings a few times before they are in perfect tune.
