Karen Pryor Clicker Training: Knowing What Equipment You Need For Dog Training

Being a responsible dog owner does not only mean you feed and groom your dog.
Yes these two are essential in dog ownership but it should not end there.
Once you decide to get a new addition to the family, a four legged-man's best friend, remember that teaching your new family member to become a well rounded citizen is as equally important.
Just how do you do it? Through training of course! There are so many ways for you to train your dog and one good way is through the Karen Pryor Clicker Training.
Before starting out with any training though, much attention should be given to basic yet essential training equipment.
These things you need to buy even before you get your puppy, so have that pen and paper ready and start writing down notes.
These are the things you need in order to train your pooch!!! COLLAR & LEASH Teaching your dog the right way to behave while on a restrained walk is important.
Would you want your dog to be pulling you in the park - straight for the neighbor's dog? Especially for big breeds like Golden Retrievers or St.
Bernards, being able to have a well-mannered pet when on a walk keeps both pet and owner stress free and relaxed.
Getting a sturdy collar and leash for your new pooch is important.
Make sure that you do not place the collar too tight for your pet may get hurt.
Leash should neither be too short or too long.
About 6 feet in length is enough.
CRATE One of the basic equipment you need is a crate.
This is needed in potty training and in basic obedience training.
Make sure your crate is just the right size for your dog.
It should not be too small neither should it be too big.
Your dog should be able to move and lie down comfortably but do not have too much of an excess space as this is where your dog will do his business.
You would want to train your dog to pee and poo outside the house and not inside or in his crate.
CLICKER A clicker is a small device usually a small box type with a metal inside it that makes a unique clicking sound when pushed down.
This device is an effective tool to use to train your dogs.
The clicking sound it makes efficiently "marks" your pet's good behavior, helping him understand what you want him to do.
Reinforced with rewarding, clicker training is said to be one of the most effective and easy training methods around.
TREATS Training sessions become more interesting and fun for your pooch when rewards are given.
Giving treats when a good behavior was made encourages the behavior to be repeated.
Positive reinforcement methods such as the reward giving system are used by many successful trainers.
Dogs tend to comply easily and remember commands more successfully.
Make sure to get treats your dog absolutely loves for training sessions!
