- 1). Secure lodging beforehand if you would like to spend a few days visiting Rittenhouse Square. There are two hotels right next to the park, one of which is a five-star establishment. There are also a number of hotels in the surrounding neighborhood (commonly referred to as Rittenhouse Square or the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood).
- 2). Decide how you would like to get there. If you are not staying in a Rittenhouse Square neighborhood hotel, you can drive or take public transportation. You have plenty of options. The area is served by SEPTA Regional Rail, the PATCO Speedline rapid transit system, the SEPTA bus system and the SEPTA Subway-Surface Trolley Lines. If you are driving or walking, the park is bounded by 18th Street, Walnut Street, Rittenhouse Square West and Rittenhouse Square South.
- 3). Dress for walking. Rittenhouse Square is full of shops, restaurants, entertainment, historic buildings and seasonal events, all perfect for strolling.
- 4). Check out some of the old buildings in the area. Although Rittenhouse Square has been highly developed for commerce, there are still plenty of older structures still standing and in operation. Most of them were erected in the nineteenth century. Some examples include Church of the Holy Trinity, Rensselaer House, the Barclay Hotel and the Curtis Institute of Music.
- 5). Get your shop on. Check out the architecture bookstore or enjoy the dozen or so middle-to-high-fashion clothing stores surrounding Rittenhouse Square.
- 6). Explore the arts and cultural institutions in and around the park. Some of the attractions include language eduction services, an art deco gallery, the world-famous Curtis Institute of Music and a well-rounded helping of other arts venues, performance halls, opera and ballet companies and more.
- 7). Try to visit Rittenhouse Square during one of its annual outdoor and community events. Depending on the time of year, you can hit up Restaurant Week, Arts and Culture Week, the Halloween celebration, the holiday tree lighting ceremony or the Spring Festival.
