Guide: How to Plan a Home Bar?

She was unmarried, every Friday night she would meet her friends at the hottest new lounge and that is how her weekend passed.

Ten years later, she is married and now, the Fridays were typically spent at someone's home at dinner parties or just parental commiserating sessions and a little spirituous drink always make the event better. But all her friends could always offer, was a random spirit and a can of soda. This just didn't work for her.

So, she made up her mind to educate her friends by setting up a well-stocked bar at home. The bar not only needs a variety of spirited drinks, but also custom home bar furniture and right space to accommodate the bar.

Before and during the research done for setting up of the home bar, she had a lot of questions in her mind, exactly the way most of us have. Let us start with some basic questions regarding the bar:
1. Where do I start from?
Select the location to start with.
A lot of people think of building a basement bar or a corner bar near the kitchen or the dining room. In case the indoor space is limited, outdoor bar is a good option.
After the location is final, the various things, one would like to have in the bar can be thought of- such as, sinks, storage, and refrigerator.
2. Should I make it a wet bar or a portable bar?
A bar with a functionality of watering holes makes it a wet bar. Setting up a sink is a convenient idea. Sinks are generally set up if the location of the bar is far from the kitchen.
A portable bar is a bar cart, that can be moved anywhere in the house; however, the location should be appropriate for the cart to spend most of its time. It can be setup in the dining room or the kitchen as a common idea. But it can be placed in the living room also as a part of showcased items. These are available in a number of styles (industrial style, tropical style, etc.), colors, and material (bamboo, rustic wood or metal accents etc.).
3. What custom home bar furniture do I use?
Choose furniture that suits and coordinate with the decor of the space. Storage of bottles is essential, so a liquid cabinet is required. Bar stools are a must for the seating. If a free standing station is intended instead of the existing table, then a bar table is needed. Bar tables are shallower and taller than regular dining tables. Checking that the height of the bar table matches the bar stools should be done before selecting any designs for the bar.
4. What accessories do I need?
After choosing the style of barware, bottle openers, decanters, ice buckets, cocktail shakers, glassware, coasters and lights can be used to accessorize the bar.

You might as well be facing such similar issues, hopefully all these questions are of some help for you to decide the look of your bar.
