- 1). Fill a large bowl with 1 cup water. Add 2 cups sugar and 2 Tbsp. boric acid powder. Stir the ingredients with a spoon until thoroughly combined. The sugar will attract the Argentine ants while the boric acid will slowly kill them after they ingest it.
- 2). Use a medicine dropper to distribute the mixture. Place several drops of the mixture in any places where you have seen the ants.
- 3). Wait at least two days to achieve the desired results. Do not clean up or kill the ants as they are feeding on the solution. The object is for the ants to take the food and deliver it to the queen ant. Killing the queen ant is the only way to ensure that the ants will not return.
- 4). Wipe up the area where you placed the drops with a rag and soapy water on the third day.
- 1). Fill a spray bottle with water. Add a few drops of dish soap to the water and shake the bottle to combine.
- 2). Spray the mixture directly onto the ants. It will kill them within seconds.
- 3). Wipe up the dead ants with a paper towel.
- 1). Boil a small amount of water in a saucepan on the stove. The amount of water you will need depends on how large of an Argentine ant problem you have. It does not take much of the boiling water as long as you get it right onto the ants.
- 2). Remove the pot of water from the stove. Pour it directly onto the Argentine ants. They will die almost instantly. Use caution when pouring the water so that it does not splash onto your skin.
- 3). Wipe up the dead ants and the water with old rags.
