Free Airplane Simulation Games

    "Flight Simulator X"

    • While the full version of "Flight Simulator X," developed by Microsoft, costs money, Microsoft still offers a free version of the game. The free version of "Flight Simulator X" consists of two airports, two missions, and three different aircraft, and it is available for download. "Flight Simulator X" consists of wide ranging, open environments that stretch from hometowns to exotic locations. The technology to make the game was 25 years in the making, and it is one of the most realistic flight simulators on the market in 2011.

    "X-Plane"

    • "X-Plane," developed by the company X-Plane, is another ultra-realistic flight simulator game. The free version of it is a demo, but the whole game is available for exploration as it only costs money to buy different planes. "X-Plane" is such an accurate flight simulator that the U.S. and Canadian aviation authorities have given it approval to be used to train incoming pilots. "X-Plane" features developed graphics along with realistic joystick control, but it may prove to be difficult for flight simulator beginners because of its intense realism.

    "Plane Flight Simulator"

    • "Plane Flight Simulator" is a free online game that is a clone of its more famous Microsoft counterpart. The game puts the gamer in control of a stunt plane and allows him to fly around the world of "Plane Flight Simulator." It is a full version, free game and uses point-and-click mouse controls. While the graphics may not be the best and the controls may take some getting used to, if you take the time to learn the intricacies of "Plane Flight Simulator," it can be a rewarding experience.

    "Aces High"

    • "Aces High," developed by HiTech Creations, is another free flight simulator that features a combat twist. The game takes place in a world full of World War I and II era combat planes, with other players controlling their own planes. Combat can take place anywhere, and the game has a realistic simulator interface in the model of WWI and WWII era airplanes. "Aces High" also allows for players to create their own missions, which is an entertaining twist on the flight simulator genre.
