- 1). Power off your old mobile phone. Remove the back cover.
- 2). Disconnect the battery from the phone to reveal the SIM card. A SIM card or "Subscriber Identity Module" is a thumb-sized memory card that stores saved information. Remove the SIM card.
- 3). Open the back of the unlocked phone. Remove the battery. Place the SIM card in the unlocked phone. Replace the battery and cover, then power on the mobile device.
- 1). Purchase a data transfer computer software program such as "Datapilot."
- 2). Install the transfer software on a desktop or notebook computer. Connect your old phone to the computer with a USB cable. Transfer the information stored on the mobile to the software program. Save the information.
- 3). Disconnect your old phone and plug in your new unlocked cell phone via the USB cable. Open the saved document file and transfer the information to the new phone.
