- 1). Hold a staff meeting. Go over the hospital's rules and mention the penalties for breaking them. Also discuss any new rules since the last staff meeting. Ask nurses for feedback on how you can communicate with them more effectively, then offer your feedback regarding nurses' communication.
- 2). Get specific details from your patients. If a patient tells you that she may have diabetes, ask if she has experienced any possible symptoms such as frequent urination, extreme hunger, fatigue and tingling in the hands or feet. This gives you a better idea of how to help your patient in the most effective way.
- 3). If you forget instructions easily, write them down. If your supervisor gives you a long list of tasks, write a number by each task so that you can carry them out in the right order. If you work in the front office and you receive a high volume of calls from people who need assistance from your supervisor, write down each caller's name, nature of the question and contact information to give to your supervisor.
