- 1). Visit the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue website to check for recruitment periods and apply for a firefighter position during an active recruitment period.
- 2). Meet the qualifications that are required for employment with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. According to the department website you must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma and have a Florida driver's license. Further, the Miami-Dade website says you must submit fingerprints, you must not have used tobacco products for one year and you must not have a felony or misdemeanor conviction.
- 3). Take and pass the required tests to become a firefighter. You must pass the audio/written test and then pass the physical test. According to the department website, the physical test is a pass/fail exam that requires you to complete eight fire-related tasks in 10 minutes and 20 seconds. You must then pass the medical exam and stress test before you can be hired as a Miami-Dade firefighter.
