  The Legends is a popular place for shopping, entertainment and dining in the Kansas City area. It is located near the Kansas Speedway in northwest Kansas City.   Located in northwest Kansas City, Kansas, the Legends at Village West is an open-air shopping mall and entertainment center with 101 restaurants and stores, covering 1.2 million square feet. Major stores such as Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Banana Republic Factory Store and Gap Outlet lease space in the Legends. Some notable area restaurants include Wild Bill's Legendary Steakhouse and Saloon, Arthur Bryant's, Dave & Buster's, Five Guys Burger and Fries and Ted's Montana Grill, a joint-venture involving Ted Turner. The mall hosts a 14-screen luxury theater with full-service bar and servers in its VIP balcony area for adults only.

  Two upscale hotels are located near the Legends -- the Great Wolf Lodge and the Chateau Avalon Hotel. The Great Wolf Lodge is about one-half mile away and features granite countertops, an indoor water park, spa and salon, and mini-refrigerators. A cave theme Wolf Den hosts a bunk bed for the kids and is stocked with movies and a Nintendo®. The Wolf Den is located within the suite and separated by a cave theme opening. Each hotel room has its own private balcony or patio. The lodge sits just inside the entrance to Cabela's, an outdoor retail store.
  
  The Chateau Avalon, a luxury boutique hotel, offers numerous amenities and is a little over a mile away. Situated on 28 acres, the hotel features custom-made mattresses, Egyptian cotton linens, gourmet breakfast served in your room, sparkling cider, custom chocolates and a surround-sound entertainment center with DVD library. In 2008, Expedia.com rated the Chateau in the top 1 percent of hotels world-wide for the second year.
