- 1). Right-click on the "McAfee VirusScan" icon, a V-shaped shield, in your computer's System Tray. The System Tray contains your computer's clock.
- 2). Click "Disable On-Access Scan." If you don't see the "Disable On-Access Scan" option, skip to the "Activating On-Access Scanning" section.
- 3). Right-click on the McAfee VirusScan icon in your computer's System Tray and click "Enable On-Access Scan" to reactivate McAfee On-Access Scanning.
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs," "McAfee" and "VirusScan Console."
- 2). Double-click "Access Protection." Click the check box next to "Prevent McAfee Services from being stopped" to deselect the option and place "Disable On-Access Scanning" on the McAfee VirusScan list of options.
- 3). Click "Apply" and "OK." Click "File" and "Exit" to close the McAfee VirusScan Console.
- 4). Complete the steps in the "Disabling On-Access Scanning" section.
