- 1). Click "Start," choose "Control Panel" and select "System And Maintenance." Select the "Backup and Restore Center" icon. Click the "Set up backup" button and follow the instructions to create a backup of your system registry prior to editing the database.
- 2). Click "Start" and type "Regedit" into the search field. Press "Enter" to launch the Registry Editor utility.
- 3). Click "Edit" on the menu bar and click the "Find" option. Type "AVG Antivirus 8" into the search field and click "Find" to locate the entries associated with the program.
- 4). Right-click on an entry associated with AVG 8 and choose "Delete." Be sure to delete each entry associated with the program.
- 5). Restart you computer to save the changes to the system settings and registry.
