Seven Red Flag Alerts When Moving to a New Location

When you start searching for a new home, you can easily be caught up and fall for one and not catch up potential problems.
Although you should have a home inspection before you sign contracts, you should also be able to keep alert on some other issues before you start the purchasing process.
A lot of unexpected things could occur during relocation.
One minute it is okay and the next, something goes wrong.
Even if you planned things out carefully, you may still encounter problems when you move, especially if you fail to anticipate risks.
Below are several red flags to watch out for when searching for a new home.
1.
Musty odors and pet smells are red flags since they are difficult to remove and may signal a bigger problem.
Remember that if the home smells like a heavy cleaning product, the seller might be trying to hide a problem.
2.
Wiring red flags.
An electrician is the only one who can diagnose wiring problems accurately, but there are things you can watch out for.
Ensure that all outlets and switches function properly.
Lights that flicker or do not work well are symptoms of problems in the wiring.
3.
Window concerns.
You can see a foggy window problem immediately just by looking at them.
Make sure to check out every window in the property to ensure that they function well.
Some windows may be painted shut or warped.
4.
Ceiling stains could mean that something is leaking.
Make sure to find out if it minor repair or a major one that will cost you a lot of money.
Most leaks resulted from ignored flashing that seals valleys in a roof around the vents or chimney.
Leaks in the roof means it is time to replace shingles.
5.
Be alert on the presence of rodents and insects in the house.
Look for mousetraps, roach motels, or other signs of possible problem.
If you find a home that you are willing to purchase, it is helpful to get a termite inspection to find out if these creatures inhibit the home.
6.
Be on the lookout for moving frauds that can happen in various ways.
Mostly, it involves rogue movers.
They operate by going through the normal process of moving but when your stuff is in transit, they will hold your valuables until you pay what they demand.
You have to choose the moving company to avoid this thing from happening.
Be wary of estimates with unbelievably cheaper rates without a thorough research of the mover, demanding for upfront cash deposit and using rental trucks than a company owned vehicle with DOT numbers.
7.
Look out for any resentment from you children.
They might not like the idea of moving to a new location at all.
Most children do not want to leave their old friends and school and they might be scared since they have no idea of what awaits them in the new place.
It is necessary to have an open communication with your children about your moving.
Furthermore, after the relocation, continue to reach out to them and help them find ways to make them more comfortable with the new home, new school and new friends.
Moving into a new location is a careful process.
Sometimes you have to go beyond your checklist to ensure that everything is okay.
In relocating, difficulties may arise if you do not anticipate problems that could lead to greater financial loss and emotional stress on you and your family.
