Best Practice for Designing Landing Pages

Product landing pages can differ in design quite wildly depending on the product or service that is being sold. Good web designers and internet experts are constantly looking out for the best design tools and tips so they can keep their clients happy and their sales figures on the up.

Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all design that will cater for all website landing pages so these pages, although designed to be simple in functionality, should offer an eye-catching design and get the sales message across perfectly. Designers need to consider the current trends that are popular in today's modern society and put themselves in the shoes of the visitor.

The most important area of a landing page is the content that you sell. Whether you are selling a digital product or a physical product or you simply want to gather email addresses, your page should attract the right clientele and entice them to perform the action you want.

Keeping things simple and professional is often a safe bet, but it's a concept that works and has been proved to work over the years. Web users are a savvy bunch and they will see through your smoke and mirrors routine and hard sell tactics quicker than you might think. Keeping things minimal and good looking is usually a good way to attract potential customers to dig deeper into your website and find out more about what you have to offer. There are many HTML5 templates available that offer sleek yet minimalist designs.

Space should also be an important consideration. Any gaping areas of blank white screen should be filled with images, pitching messages and any other content that is relevant to your product or service. Empty space is wasted space.
Also ensure that your landing page is easy to navigate and that you include links to other pages where necessary. Don't fill up your page with links however as your visitors may have a hard time working out where they need to go. Keep things nice and simple and use some good messages and easy to click buttons and you'll have your audience eating out of the palm of your hand.

Many landing pages now incorporate stunning eye-candy in the form of graphics, infographics, logos and other artwork. Unless you run a graphics design company or photography company you really don't need to go overboard with the graphics. Whilst they can be great for using to fill up space they can also make your page seem a little cluttered and your message could also become lost within all the messages.

A good way to use graphics is in the use of buttons that your visitors can click on. Make them bold and fun and your visitors are more likely to click on them.
