Routines for Babies - The Importance of Establishing Routines

Babies love the consistency, familiarity and security a routine gives them so by adopting workable routines for babies into your lifestyle you are giving your baby the best possible start in life.
By setting up predictable routines you are not only helping them to form good patterns but your baby will be more relaxed if they know what to expect.
As a parent organizing your time to make this happen can often be harder than you think.
Luckily it doesn't have to be! Becoming a parent is probably one of the most difficult adjustments you will ever make in your life.
It is extremely rewarding but as you probably know already can be challenging, demanding and time consuming.
Creating the perfect balance between finding time for yourself and your partner while meeting your baby's needs is a juggling act for most moms.
As many moms know finding time to establish a routine is not always easy...
but definitely worth trying to do.
Having routines for babies and planning your day will: help you to manage your time; give you the chance to be more organized; give you more time to spend with your loved ones and very importantly give you time to yourself which all moms need.
You may need to ask, and accept help from others but remember everyone will benefit.
Routines make life more predictable.
Why? Because everyone knows what to expect.
It will help to ensure your baby: feels secure; is more settled; and doesn't get too tired or too hungry (in other words has an appropriate "infant feeding schedule" and "sleep training for babies" routine).
Even better...
it will help you to: have a better understanding of your baby's moods (know the reason they are unsettled is because they are tired, hungry or simply bored); feel more relaxed knowing your baby's needs are being attended to; feel more satisfied because you are doing a good job; and feel you can cope with the mixture of emotions which at times can be very overpowering.
It is important when planning your routine you make it as realistic as possible.
If you can follow it without a great deal of difficulty it will be easier to stick to.
Because many things can affect your baby's routine some days will go smoother than others.
For example illness, teething or changes in your daily schedule such as visitors or long days out are all likely to upset your baby's pattern.
By accepting this is a part of life and being flexible you are more likely to feel in control and less likely to get disheartened.
So why are routines for babies so important? Simply put, more time.
More time to spend with your baby, more time to spend with your family - more time for you to do the things you want to do, more time to feel happy, relaxed and fulfilled.
