- 1). Plug in your HTC EVO to the phone charger. Go to your computer and open the Unrevoked website in your Web browser. Click the HTC EVO image to access the proper version of Unrevoked for the smartphone.
- 2). Click "Download Unrevoked3." Click "More info" and click the link labeled "These HBOOT Drivers." Click "UnrEVOked Modified USB Driver." Extract the ZIP file to your computer. Restart your HTC EVO phone in boot mode by simultaneously holding the "Power" and down-volume keys on the phone.
- 3). Select "HBOOT USB" on your phone and press the "Power" button. Connect the EVO to your computer. Switch to your computer. Click "Start" and right-click "Computer." Select the "Properties" menu.
- 4). Click "Device Manager." Click the plus sign next to "Other Devices." Double-click the device listing with the exclamation mark. Click "Update Drivers" in the Properties window that pops up. Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software."
- 5). Click "Browse" and use the file explorer to go to the HBOOT drivers folder you extracted. Click "OK." Click "Next." Double-click the Unrevoked EXE file. Disconnect and reconnect your EVO to the computer if the Unrevoked program does not automatically detect and root the phone. Once Unrevoked finishes, the rooting process is complete.
