Many Xbox 360 owners today are struggling with a common error associated with the Xbox 360; The Red Ring of Death.
For four years the manufacturer has been unable to develop a permanent repair for this problem which has left Xbox 360's all over the globe useless.
Because of this many people have taken the burden of developing a red ring of death repair on their own, but many of these method's weren't reliable and were nothing you could bet your money on.
Fortunately however, some technicians also had this idea of repairing their systems themselves.
Since these guys had the technical knowledge and background to do so, this wasn't as difficult a task as it was for many others.
To make a long story short, they were able to develop what is currently thought to be the only known red ring of death repair that is currently available.
This repair works so well because it accomplishes two essential things.
It first isolates the overheating problem to three pieces of hardware inside of the Xbox 360.
Then it uses simple methods to ensure that these areas are no longer affected by the overheating issue inside of the Xbox 360.
Basically, it reinforces the original hardware so that it is no longer vulnerable to overheating thereby rectifying the entire red ring of death issue.
The three parts that are directly affected and need to be modified are the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the Heat Sinks, which are responsible for keeping the GPU and CPU protected and cool.
The problem here is the GPU and CPU are two essential computer chips that run your system, and it's the heat sinks job to ensure they are protected.
When the Xbox 360 overheats the motherboard starts to bend, causing the heat sinks to be thrown off balance therefore exposing both of these chips to extreme degrees of heat.
In this case, the CPU and GPU are encoated with a thermal compounding paste designed to keep them protected from direct heat exposure, but there's a problem.
The thermal paste used is insufficient and cannot withstand the amount of heat produced by the console.
This leaves only one solution to both problems.
First the GPU and CPU need to have the original paste removed.
Then they need to be re-applied with a specific thermal compound paste designed to withstand extreme degrees of heat.
This paste will ensure these chips are properly protected and will be safe in the future.
The next step is to ensure that the heat sinks are no longer thrown off balance.
Since the motherboard overheats, it starts to bend.
The heat sinks are originally kept in place by the X-Clamps, which are an in-direct and insufficient method of holding the heat sinks in place.
To fix this, the X-Clamps need to first be removed.
Then, using a set of specific washers and screws a more stable and direct foundation is built for the heat sinks to hold them directly in place on the motherboard.
This will not allow the heat sinks to be thrown off balance in the future and they will always be able to protect the GPU and CPU.
Once this red ring of death repair has been made, your system will be properly protected.
Something no one has been able to do; not even the manufacturer.
It's because this method is so effective and useful that many people are starting to resort to self-fix-it methods like the one above, to properly and permanently repair their console.
So if you are in need of a genuine red ring of death repair that actually works then I would highly advise the use of the above repair method.
