Sexually transmitted diseases are venereal diseases which occur by mean s of intercourse and other conditions similar to it. They have haunted human life for many decades together. Right from the age of Greek rulers up till today there has been no significant drop in the numbers. They were considered to the ‘plague of Athens' and many famous personalities also perished in their fire. Napoleon Bonaparte, Christopher Columbus, George Washington and Franz Schubert are some of jewels of human world who were sucked into the darkness through these diseases. STDs are transferrable and can be transferred via an infected person. Unprotected frequent intercourses can also lead to getting any of the infections related to them. They cause long-term damages like low level immunity and infertility. There are more than 34 million patients worldwide who suffer through one or more STDs. Approximately there have been about 2 million deaths every year resulting from them. In one of the recent survey it has been found that globally the numbers have been soaring sky-high and this has become a major issue of concern for WHO (World Health Organization). The constant increase has been on the move right from 1990 when it was in the range of 5 to 10 million and subsequently increased up to 25 million in 1998. A large part of the society has to be blamed for making people accept such a miserable death which eats away a human's body from the inside. In 2009 the number grew up till 34.5 million which has been a ground-shaking figure for the United Nations and shook up every country around the globe. Facts and figures can make individuals wonder as to what can be the limit but unfortunately, there is none. There are various forms of diseases in STDs like Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), hepatitis, syphilis, Chlamydia, gonorrhea (referred as ‘the clap'), trichomoniasis (Trich), yeast infections, HIV/AIDS, herpes viruses, bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease and pubic lice (Crabs). Other STDs like chancrous bacteria, donovanosis, urea plasma
urealyticum and shigellosis are some very fatal diseases too in their foray. Painful urination, lower abdominal pain, vaginal discharge in women and similar discharges from men, painful intercourse, testicular pain, burning sensation during urination, frequent urination and bloody discharges from genital tracts are some symptoms which can confirm about it. Strong vaginal odor, vaginal itching, light vaginal bleeding, swollen lymph glands, headache, sore throat, fever, rashes, fatigue, diarrhea, weight loss, soaking night sweats , cough and shortness of breadth are also other factors which can tell whether an individual is suffering from any sexually transmitted diseases.
The treatment and prevention of such awful diseases need to be done side by side. Governments and other public organizations like NGOs should join hands together and continuously educate people through means of mass media in order to create awareness and the aftermaths of such destructive forces. For those who suffer through them should be put in a rehabilitation centre and treatment should go on without fail in order to make their life a little better. Though treatment for all STDs is yet to be fully uncovered by our younger generation of biotechnologists,
it will be a tough time dealing with this historical situation which hasn't been eradicated till date. Everyone should understand the importance of protection in such times which can only help in preventing horrible deaths. We sincerely hope that it will in future be wiped out from its roots and no longer give pain to the human world
