- 1). Read national news websites. Often these sites will have the obituaries of celebrities, businessmen and politicians and they usually give readers an in-depth look at the person's life and death. Some good news websites to visit for obituaries include The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
- 2). Look at online entertainment magazines. These publications often have celebrity obituaries which give detailed account of their life and careers, especially for readers who may not know a lot about the celebrity who died. Also read some of the blogs that are affiliated with the magazines because the writers may have other information on the celebrities that weren't featured in the obituary.
- 3). Read online scholarly journals. This is a good idea if you're searching for a former professor or colleague in the academic field. If you're trying to find an obituary on your former Latin American studies professor who just passed away, you can look at journals such as Hispania, Hispanic American Historical Review and Latin American Issues Review to see if someone published information on him or her.
- 4). Read local lifestyle magazine websites. If you found out about the recent passing of your former manager, and you worked at a well-known local cosmetics shop, type in that person's name in the "search" box. If the person's name didn't show up on the site, then type in the name of the cosmetics shop you worked at.
- 5). Visit library websites. For example, if you need to get obituaries on a few state politicians who passed away over the past 10 years, go your state's library and look at the "Archives" section. Then type in the names of the politicians and dates of their deaths.
