Attending parties is one of the fun things most people like to do.
Many people attend several parties within the year ranging from birthday parties, wedding or anniversary parties,reception or farewell parties, cocktail or fund raising dinner parties or simply an end of the year parties organized at work places.
In spite of the fun people have in attending parties it could be a little daunting for some people to make up their mind on the best clothes to wear to each party.
In most parties there is no dress code required, the party invitees are free to wear whatever they choose to wear.
Oftensome people find it hard to find a nice clothing outfit among the clothes in their wardrobe to wear to any party and not finding anything they consider good enough, they would always "dash" out to the mall to look for something new for every party they attend.
The purpose of this article is not to decide for you what clothes to wear or if you should wear something new for every party you attend, but rather my aim is to help calm your nerves as you fret over what clothes to or not to wear to each party you are invited to.
The following are some guidelines that could help you in choosing or making up your mind on what clothes you are wear to any party;

1. Understand the Purpose of the party: Be clear in your mind the purpose for the party you are invited to.
   As a guest you are invited to celebrate an event in another person's life, either a celebration of life as in a birthday party or a mile stone in a person's life as in a wedding or anniversary party or the achievements of another person.
   The focus or emphasis is on another person and not on you.
   So since the focus is not on you, do not think that the other invitees will focus their attention on you so as to find out what you are wearing, so be relaxed and take the focus and spotlight off yourself.
   

2. Be Clear in Your Mind What the Party is not: - If the party is not a fashion showdinner party in which you are one of the "Cat walkers," then the party is not a place for you to display your fashion clothing.
   While you are encouraged and supposed to wear something nice and fashionable you should not give yourself nightmare in choosing what to wear since you are not going for a fashion competition with anyone in that party.
   

3. Wear what you are Comfortable with and look Good in:-The ultimate goal of any invited guest in any party celebration is to have fun, interact with other people, make new friends and network when possible.
   It will be very hard for you to do any of these if you are uncomfortable with yourself or always drawing attention to yourself and wanting to be in the spotlight.
   Wear whatever clothing that helps you to be relaxed, be your authentic self so as to present a good yourself image to those around.
   Do not wear any clothing outfit that will draw unnecessary attention to you and distract the other party invitees.
   

4. Respect the Wishes of Your Host(s):-If the celebrants (s) requestedthe party invitees to wear a certain shade of color for the party,such as in a wedding party where the couple requests their guests towear a particular shade of color, be polite and honor the celebrants' request and wear the shade of color they requested.
